Harry Curtis, Jr. of Savannah, Missouri provided this picture of the Bridge and Building Gang # 12, Iowa Division, ICRR, Cherokee, Iowa. The picture was taken in 1954 or 55.

Dick told me some history that I will include here. According to Dick Curtis, there were three Bridge & Building Gangs in the Iowa Division of the Illinois Central Railroad (ICRR) in the 1950s. Dick Curtis and his brother Thayne Curtis worked on B&B Gang # 13 out of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Regarding the photo being sent with this email, Dick thought the plaques being held by two men were safety awards for the gang. The photo was taken in the ICRR yard in Cherokee, Iowa South side of Elm Street, facing South. The old Freight Depot is visible at the left side of the photo.Dick said that the vehicle the guys are in back of or on top of was a Studebaker straight truck, and the back was known as the "Doghouse" where all the men sat & rode to the job!
